About

This is my personal online space and professional portfolio where I, Mourad Diouri, share and reflect on my latest e-Learning projects, training-events, publications, and e-Learning technologies essential for anyone involved in teaching Arabic and other foreign languages.

I am originally from Tangier, Morocco and currently reside in Edinburgh, Scotland with my wife and child.

I am a full-time e-Learning Instructor/Developer in Arabic language studies at CASAW (Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World), which is a consortium between the Universities of Edinburgh,  Manchester and Durham. As  an e-Learning professional, I specialise in blended learning and the design of inventive resources that support language learners and teachers within and beyond the classroom. I am constantly generating innovative and original ideas and resources to engage learners and maximise their learning experience.

I am a Google Qualified Individual and currently training to become a Google Certified Trainer and Teacher.

I am the author of  Teach Yourself: Read & Write Arabic Script (2011) and Internet Arabic: Essential Middle Eastern Vocabulary (2012). I believe being an established author would be an ideal opportunity to put my skills, experience and expertise into the public domain and help fill existing gaps of knowledge in the market, as well as creating new angles in the Arabic language teaching field.

Since 2005, I’ve been very privileged to win three awards, and be shortlisted for one, in teaching and eLearning:

  1. e-Assessment Innovation Award  2011
  2. Formative e-Assessment Award 2011 (Highly Commended)
  3. Teaching Excellence Award 2005 for Innovative Course Design & Teaching Strategies
  4. e-Learning Awards 2009 (shortlisted for “Excellence in the Production of e-Learning Content)

Lately, I have been involved with many educational institutions as a consultant and external advisor providing quality assurance and advice in the use of e-Learning in language education.
